![]() The closest resolution I found for HDMI 1.4 is 2560 × 1440 at 60 Hz. Dual-link DVI supports 2560 x 1600 at 60Hz but HDMI 1.4 doesn't seem to. I couldn't find any documentation from Samsung listing other supported resolutions. I don't think a different adapter will help.Īccording to the spec sheet that I found at Samsung's website, your monitor's preferred resolution is 2560 x 1600 at 60Hz. Is this for real? Cause i was planning to buy a more expensive adapter this time. Not sure if this is accurate but basically the guy is saying you cannot get modern resolution via adapter but you need a sole cable with each end hdmi to one and dvi to the other to achieve this? Some of the newer HDMI versions support increased bandwidth (1.3, 1.4, 2.0), but this is unavailable when using a converter to DVI. Flickering horizontal lines and the monitor would lose the connection entirely if I put too many white pixels on the screen (i.e., by dragging a window onto it)) (I've actually tried running 2560x1440 over an HDMI connector, and the results are very bad. Because of this, the total output resolution is limited to 1280x800. The monitor's connector is a Dual-link DVI connector, and HDMI (as provided by an adapter)/VGA only carries enough bandwidth for a Single-link DVI connector. I then googled around and saw that adapters for some reason dont support higher resolution due to scalers not included or something? Cant quite understandĭont mind the tile of the post about the apple monitor. Thought there must be some kind of driver issue, so i tried an update to latest graphic drivers, restarted the system, and same old same old Result was the same as all i could get was still 1200x800. So i got one laying around which is DVI-D by the way, and to my surprise when i used it and connected to the monitor all i could get was 1200x800! Thought the adapter was old, or busted or dysfuncional, so i ordered a new one from here which is clearly dvid as you can see. Since this monitor only supports dvi input, i thought i would need some type of adapter head to use with my laptop (I used to operate this from my desktop). I look forward to hearing back from you and helping with the issue. So I got this 30" Samsung Syncmaster 305T Monitor that supports 2560x1400 resolution, which i need to use in my office since i work with CAD Drawings. Please plug the device into your computer, then go to this page and follow the instructions there: We have a troubleshooting tool that helps us find out what is going on in situations like this. Please do not post the PlugDebug logs here, and instead e-mail them to and include “ticket #287326” in the subject line so we can connect the threads. To learn more about your setup I’d like to ask you to run our PlugDebug tool and send us the logs so we can review your setup to see what the issue might be. It’s possible that the adapter cable is defective or maybe the DVI port on your docking station is not working properly and we are here to help. Usually the problems we see are users who are trying to go from HDMI to DisplayPort without the correct adapters. ![]() Using DVI to HDMI adapters or adapter cables should work well with your docking station since these cables and adapters are bi-directional. Thank you for contacting Plugable support, and welcome to our support forums. ![]() I’m not sure if this is a problem with the DVI-HDMI cable or screen settings or even if I’ve just mis-understood specs, and the docking station DVI doesn’t support DVI-HDMI cables. Using an Amazon Basics DVI-HDMI cable with either monitor results in the monitor no longer being seen by Windows (Detect in Display Settings doesn’t find the monitor on the DVI-HDMI connection) and I go back to a 2 display set up (Surface screen plus the monitor connected to the docking station’s HDMI port).īoth the monitors are set at 1920 x 1080 resolution. With either monitor, I can run a 3 screen display, with one monitor connected from the docking station HDMI port and the other from the DVI port, using the DVI-VGA connector. I’ve tested the connections on both monitors. I bought the docking station to move to a 3 display set up and I’ve got it connected to 2 Samsung 22" monitors (one new, one about 3 years old). Running a Surface Pro that’s about 2 years old, Intel i5 7300U 2.6GHz 8GB RAM. ![]() The issue may be down to user error, but here goes. Have checked the forum and although there are some similar problems, I’ve can’t see this particular one.
